  • A trip to New York and a Trip to Korea

I took a trip up to Beverly Hills today after work to hang out with some friends at Mulberry Street Pizzeria. Oh man I have not been to this place in a long time! Last time I found myself here was back in 2005 when I was hanging around with friends in that area. We used to meet there every other week for one of their famous pies. Sometimes celebrities would come through and have a bite to eat there. The place hasnt changed much except for the growing number of signatures and photographs that cover the brick walls of the building.,

Watching the guys toss the pizza dough around is a sight in its self. You almost forget you were in a town filled with glamorous celebs and snooty, prissy , plastic looking bimbos walking up and down the street flaunting money that they dont know what to do with. As if the cars on the street were not distracting already; BMW, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Rolls, Ferrari ,McLaren, Lamborghni, Honda. LOL no seriously, there was a civic hybrid parked in front of a bentley. But once you step into this shop, it was like stepping into a pizza place on Mulberry street in NY. If I remember correctly, they truck drinking water from New York by the barrels and they also import their dough from NY to keep the traditional taste. I'll tell you this: it's damn awesome.

After Pizza, me and OJ were supposed to meet mike and DJ Splyce down in hermosa beach for a friend's birthday but they were not there yet so fail on them haha. OJ wanted some boba so we decided to hit up Korea Town. I told them there was one boba shop there I used to go to after the clubs because they stay open almost 24 hours. I mentioned it in one of my old posts: "Sunday Recap" (Circa May 2006) So we got there and well, lo and behold, "La Caffa" was now a boba shop called "Ripple".

    WTF HAPPEN TO La CAFFA!?

Well the milk tea wasnt bad and the decor was more of an upgrade. OJ wasnt feelin that milk green tea. Haha I think they used the shit tea to make his drink.

Well that was my night, until next time, Im out.

  • Discovering new music is always cool

So I decided to be ambitious today. I went ahead and opened the itunes radio stations at work.I have gotten back in touch with genres that i have not listened to in a long time (8 years).

    My favorite stations:

    1. #1 Earthbound radio
I love underground and indie hip hop. It was my passion before , is still my passion and is still my choice of music to spin as a DJ.I have been out of touch with the underground scene for a while, although i do keep up to date with it, I still feel there is more that I could be collecting. So I started listening to earthbound again, whenever a song I like comes on, I write the artist and title down. When this list gets long, I'll head out to my record stores and start digging again.

    2. # Cerritos All-stars Radio
My homies are still keeping it strong on this station  ... 4 years strong! Another hip-hop station but mostly all DJs doing mix shows.
    3. Dubstep radio
Holy shiznit! why havent I been introduced to Dubstep earlier? this stuff kicks anus.
    4. Progressive House Radio
This is what I play when I get into that programming groove... nothing like having the matrix theme for visual studio and progressive techy house blasting through my headphones... It totally screams Nerd, but  not like that guy on Grandma's boy ... "I hate yer faceee"

    5. Indie Rock Radio
Down tempo college rock. for those post lunch hangovers.

My co-worker Kevin also introduced me to another interesting band called TalkDemonic, I havent heard all of their stuff yet but from what I heard, they are cool.

I've also been getting in touch with my reggae roots again. I recently found a CD from my friend's old band "Nobody Cares".

I haven't heard their stuff in a long time. I fell in love with the long beach reggae again =) it's been playing in the car.

Discovering new and old music rocks. =)

  • I love Melissa

    I love Melissa =)

Anywhoo, my coworker sent me an article earlier this morning entitled "10 Sexy Careers You Never Thought Of".

Checkout these excerpts, according to this article Im Sexy... 2 times! lol

Clubs are teeming with sexy people (or at least people trying to be sexy), which means you've got a room full of perfumes, colognes, too much makeup, bad hairstyles and stumbling drunks. It's enough to make you turn around and walk away. But once you catch a glimpse of the stylish guy or gal in the booth who's spinning records (or hitting buttons on a laptop) and making the crowd dance, you suddenly want to stay. DJs possess one of those quirky talents we all wish we had and they look cool doing it. Bonus points if you catch his or her eye and get a song played for you.

    and

    5. IT workers
Although IT workers have earned a bad reputation for not understanding the plight of thecomputer-illiterate worker, they aren't the office villains some people have made them out to be. And if power is sexy, then these men and women probably outrank everyone. Whether you're low on the totem pole or an executive, if you can't open your e-mail account or figure out why your monitor is flickering, you call IT. In many offices, IT workers have the most lax dress code of all the departments, so you can't help but envy them.

so according to this article I fall into two sexy job categories haha. Although Im not much an IT since Im a programmer, it still falls into that category. wee +1 for the nerds.

  • Random Blurbs

    Fail? Win? Random?

I don't know what it is, but it seems like when ever I make plans with
people, plans NEVER go through. Lately I've been setting myself up for
failure, saturday was the worst; I made plans with 3 different people
and they all fell through. Uber fail. There must be something in the
air or maybe it's the change in the weather? People have been acting
really "blah" lately, like those who usually talk to me are not talking
to me, ignoring me or just avoiding me at all costs. I wonder if it's
something I did, or did I step in crap or something? Wait It can't be,
I wear a different pair of shoes everyday I dont know, people are just
blah. So I guess I'll stop making plans with people to avoid getting
canceled on again, for now I'll just go about with my plans. I'd rather
    not waste my time again.

    where did my lunch go?

So I left the house this morning with this weird feeling that I forgot
something. I thought things over in my head on my way to work:

    • Locked the doors
    • Shut off the lights
    • Shut off the heater
    • Shut off the coffee maker
    Nothing
major I could think of so I continued on, walked into the office, sat
at my desk and continued to work on my assigned projects. So just
before lunch, Kevin called a company meeting and thats when It hit
me... I left my damn lunch on the kitchen counter. Great.
    ...Fail.

Bills!!!! And more plans to kick off 2009

Wow the holiday aftermath! I just checked my credit card statement and
I spent 1000 dollars on myself in the last 2 weeks! ... I guess I
spoiled myself rotten ... must refrain from buying stuff.
    Although,
it does feel good to finally have a radio for the car that my iPod can
actually be attached to. GOOD BYE CDS! ... HD radio is freaking awesome
    too!

So I went to check my bank account earlier and I just
realized I've been doing a good job at saving lately. Glad to see more
zeros after a positive whole number/series of whole numbers in that
account than minus signs. I was not hesitant to actually send 1000
bucks off to the credit card company. I really should try to lock up
the card somewhere to attempt and try to dig my ass out of debt.
    (stupid ex-girlfriends sent me there)

    Money is tight though, I
still feel it. My friends keep saying Im ballin', I beg to differ, Im
still in debt after my last relationship so Im definately NOT ballin'.
If I was I would not be here typing this random blog, I would be out
somewhere tropical. Anyway, there are so many cool things I want and
cool places I want to go but money is still an issue. This month is
really going to be a busy month for me, lets see how I can manage my
    budget.

SO this weekend Im planning to head up to vegas for the
consumer electronics show. This is going to take some careful planning
and budgeting. Im actually planning to fly up there this time:
    From
LB to LV, a round trip ticket is about 140 bucks. If I were to drive up
there: the cost is the same in gas. Since I work full time , I have to
find a way to maximize my stay in sin city:

    • fly up after work on friday (2 hours) go check in at a hotel by 10pm
    • call friends and roll ViP to the clubs they DJ at 12am - 6am
    • nap for an hour and pound 2 redbulls, head to CES at the convention center
    • maybe check out the AV convension in the other exhibition hall LOL.
    • Clubbing again, pound 2 more redbulls
    • CES last day
    • fly out of vegas at 5pm, be home by 8pm and knock out, head to work the next day.

    so
where am I gonna stay? Prob my friend's houses or cousin's house .. $$
saved. ViP for free ... $$$ saved, drinks are free , $$$ saved. I prob
will only spend money on the plane tix and entrance to CES. well see...
    plans are tentative.

The weekend after CES I will be attending
the NAMM 2009 show in Anaheim. This year I'll be rolling with my
friend's company and then walking around and shooting the shizz with my
fellow programmers at Serato Audio Research and buying the RANE
corporation homies a round of drinks. I'll be on the hunt for those
free tickets to the shows. Last year stevie wonder came out on stage.
Hmm I wonder what other celebrities I will meet this year. Last year I
met: Taylor Swift, Billy Douche Bag Corgan from smashing pumpkins, Jr.
Sanchez, Kenny G, Stevie Wonder, Shiny Toy Guns (I had No Idea steve
went to High school with the drummer, Chill guys!), Kill switch engage
(drunk mofos! lol cool guys also) and EverClear. Im really looking
forward to this year. Who knows who I will run into and what other cool
goodies I'll snatch up this year =)

Oh and yea, I kicked it into high gear, those who wanted to make plans with me, you guys missed your chance... Now Im busy!

  • Sorry for the delay..

Well it's been a nice year of NOT writing in my web log.

Just so you know I've been back at blogger: http://helloitsben.blogspot.com/

other than that, I'll be back on here once in a while to write in my private/protected log that I otherwise would not publish publicly at blog spot. If you have have my facebook account then all my weblogs are synched to my notes

    Hi jenn!

Ok nevermind, im back at xanga LOL

Stick this in your router and blog it: Resolutions are a go.

So its the 3rd day of 2009 and I've been off to a great start. This
time I think im going to stick with my resolutions simply because I
have not made any resolutions that are not attainable. I am already
completing one of these resolutions and it is to start blogging again.
I pulled up some of my old blog entries from xanga and live journal. It
was great to relive some of those memories. You can also see how much I
have changed as a person through out the years. It was also interesting
to see how many blogging services I have gone through:

    :: 2001 - 2002 - Blogger
    :: 2002 - 2003 - my own blogging framwork I wrote in php
    :: 2004 - 2005 - word press
    :: 2005 - 2006 - xanga (view old blog here)
    :: 2006 - 2008 - myspace/xanga (view old blog here)
:: 2009 - present- back to blogger but I think I'll keep that as something totally different, I'll figure out what I want to do with it. Xanga has always been about my life, why not keep to the theme.

    ::

    I
guess my laziness level fluctuated also as you can see I went from
simple to technical (witting my own blog code) to semi-technical to
social. Not a bad thing, if you look at it from a business standpoint,
I got the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible lol.

Fail boats, Box of Fail and Cup of Fail.

So today turned out to be a bag of Fail.

Plan A: BBQ at a friend's house but he has the runs LOL ... FAiL

Plan B (no pregnancy): Movies with Joelle ... but she said Fam first (forgivable fail)

Plan C: Chillin with Thao in San Bernardino and then Nigh snowboarding: something came up so she couldnt hang =(

Plan D: Chill with Jacquelyn but she was too tired from practice

    Plan
E: Movies with Joelle and Melissa to make up for earlier (but Joelle
couldnt wait for me to finish eating so they made other plans.... FAiL
    BOAT!)

Plan F: Movies with me, myself and I, but I failed my
self coz I decided to park my ass at lollicup for Boba and free
    internet haha.
